.Wildcat Youth Football 2017

Dear Football Parents;

It is time to embark on another great football season!

Wilsonville Youth Sports, Inc. (WYS) is a non-profit organization intending to provide organized sports for the youth of Wilsonville. It is based on the participation of youngsters and the volunteer spirit of people in the local community. To make WYS the best that it can be for our children, we need your help. Volunteering time with your child's team or for the league is a rewarding and enlightening experience. If you have some free time please make a note on your registration form and we will find a way for you to help. Any amount of help is greatly appreciated.

Registration will be online again this year, as mandated by the TVYFL. The Online registration will reduce the amount of paperwork that parents will need to fill out and also reduce the amount of work our volunteers must perform.

Applications postmarked after June 15, 2017 require a late-registration fee of $50 and the child may be placed on a waiting list-pending space. If your child cannot be placed on a team, you will receive a full refund.

Multi-child discount: If you have more than one child participating in the WYS football program, you can deduct $10.00 from the total registration fee for each child.

No refunds will be issued once football equipment is issued.

Due to TVYFL restrictions on team size, limited playing and practice space, and a limited amount of gear, WYS must impose restrictions on the number of players on its teams. Space on teams is allocated on a first-come basis, so it is important that you get your registration forms in early to secure a spot. Registrations received after the teams are full will be retained and the players contacted if a space opens up.

Players who have outstanding uniforms or equipment from any WYS sports will not be able to participate in further WYS sports until such uniforms or equipment is returned or paid for.

The boundaries for the programs provided by WYS are defined by the Wilsonville High School boundaries. If you reside in an area that will have you attending Wilsonville High School, then you are eligible to participate in WYS programs. Kids wishing to participate in WYS programs outside those boundaries, must petition the Director for approval to participate. In addition, specific sports or leagues may have guidelines for participation that are more restrictive than the general guidelines of WYS.

The Tualatin Valley Youth Football League, Inc (TVYFL) is the league that WYS competes in. It is comprised of more than 84 associations from Scappoose to Canby and Hillsboro to Colton.
In keeping with safety, TVYFL imposes weight restrictions on the ball carriers and all ball carrier positions. The maximum weight for ball handlers is:
3rd/4th Grade = 105lbs
5th/6th Grade = 125lbs.
7th/8th Grade JV = 150lbs
8th Grade Varsity = 175lbs

The TVYFL also imposes a minimum play requirement, of 10 plays, so that all kids get to play.

TVYFL Medical releases must be turned in prior to equipment issue. We are not allowed to issue gear until those are turned in. If your child has already had a physical that is still valid for 2017, your doctor or nurse practioner must sign the TVYFL medical release form. WYS recommends that your football player participate in as many football camps as possible during the off-season. These camps will reinforce fundamentals, keep your childs skills sharp, and teach new techniques. Go to the Camps page/tab to see flyers on the camps we know of.

Everyone needs to learn more about concussions.
